Established in 2011 as KB Lueck Building Consultants LLC, we are a husband/wife team ready to listen to our customers goals for budget, function, design and aesthetic appeal. Using our design, construction and management experience we can create a “plan” to bring all the pieces together and carry that plan through to successful completion to achieve your goals and enhance your property value.

Working in and around Anne Arundel County for the past 35 years as a designer, a draftsman, a building consultant, construction site superintendent and project manager; Kevin delivers the people and resources that get the job done. His success comes from understanding the need for accurate, affordable and workable solutions for the often complex challenges of maintaining, improving and expanding spaces, homes and properties.

Brenda has also lived and served Anne Arundel County for the past 35 years. She offers strong organizational skills and a keen eye for design, architectural balance and color. She helps deliver a finished project that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. Brenda ensures that design, layout, lighting, color selections and furniture placement all come together to create a space you can live in and love.

Building has always been a big part of his life from little up – building blocks, building forts, small crafts and basic furniture to fine furniture items. Starting a first job of “learning the trade” as a helper to a degree in Building Construction and Business Administration to building high end custom homes and spaces – all of these have blended the practical experience with technical education. Recognizing the value of staying current with new materials and techniques is essential for finding the correct solution to building design, construction improvements and construction issues.

More About Brenda

Growing up in a PA stone farmhouse dating back to mid-late 1700’s sparked her interest into design and architectural elements. Dreams of being a carpenter and enjoyment from playing with different color palettes and rearranging furniture would be the beginnings of a life-long hobby. After 20+ years, her hobby grew through experience gained from helping family and friends with their design projects. Believing one can have both beauty and function with creative thinking is how each design project is approached. Working with Kevin lays a foundation of a more complete understanding and insight into each project.

We worked with Kevin and Brenda to explore modifying our kitchen. It was a galley kitchen with a prior addition that resulted in several small spaces. My wife and I presented our ideas and desires and Kevin and Brenda were able to help us see a more complete vision for our space. They listened well to our desires and were able to present a vision for the finished product with room layout and cabinet design/orientation. Throughout a couple of meetings, Kevin and Brenda collaborated well in offering feedback and ideas while still allowing us to take a very active position in the design process. Given the age of the house and prior additions, Kevin was able to warn us of a couple of spots that may be complicated and was very proactive with our contractor when we opened up the house and could see the whole picture. Throughout the whole process, including design, contractor selection, quotes, permitting, and renovation, Kevin and Brenda checked in with us. They didn't consider the job done until we had a finished product that we were happy with. Highly recommend Kevin and Brenda to anyone contemplating a home renovation.

Doing renovations to a home is a very stressful process, so it’s important to choose the right team to get what you want and need. Kevin and Brenda are that team; they are honest, resourceful, and have lots of experience and are able to combine their strengths and offer a very wide range of services and advice to the home owner. They are people you can trust to understand what needs to be done and to do it well. They do beautiful work, far and away better than I could have ever imagined. Kevin and Brenda consider all of your ideas in a project. Keeping cost containment in mind, they were able to propose a project within the footprint of our house to provide functional solutions. Kevin and Brenda did a great job helping us with our remodel of two bathrooms. We switched from a tub to a beautiful shower in our master bath which necessitated reconfiguring the layout of both bathrooms. Kevin skillfully laid out the plans for our contractor. Brenda was very helpful in assisting us in selecting from a mind-boggling number of choices for the tile, fixtures, counters, cabinets, and hardware. She was sensitive to our likes/dislikes and our budget. Because of our experience, we have recommended their services to friends and family and will continue to do so.

Kevin and Brenda are experts in their field. They were able to envision and produce architectural details that enhanced not only the curb appeal on the exterior but a total transformation of our entire first floor to include a beautiful stat-of-the-art kitchen. They were patient listening to a litany of client “wishes” delivering concept drawings that were spot on. The end result is a beautiful reno of almost our entire house. We love the final results! We highly recommend this team!

We told Kevin and Brenda what we were hoping to do with our old back porch, deck and spaces underneath. They listened to what we had to say and not only designed and built what we had asked for, but made it so much better than we ever imagined it could be. The entire project was completed on time and on budget. They had so many wonderful suggestions to enhance what we wanted to do and were a huge help throughout every step of the process. This included converting and evolving our design ideas, selecting materials of construction, maximizing functionality all the way through to helping with color schemes, all the while, keeping options and costs at the forefront. Nothing was ever executed without first submitting a detailed quotation first. Their project management capabilities included 100% of everything from design, drawings, permitting, material procurement and total installation. They were also extremely flexible and allowed us to be involved to whatever extent we felt comfortable. Their imagination and innovative abilities were key to accomplishing some of the more unusual aspects of this project. For example, working closely with the installer in correcting some previous yard erosion issues we were having and some very unusual design criteria. Kevin, Brenda and their installer were the consummate professionals with keen eyes on every minute detail. The whole process of working with them was so much fun. We would highly recommend them to anyone!

A couple years ago we made the decision to "age in place" in the home we love. With that decision came the motivation to create space conducive to mental and physical health and wellbeing. My husband was an industrial arts major in college so we knew a workshop where he could dream and create was a must. Our family is active athletically, so a home gym was also part of our dream. The problem: we had no idea how to accomplish our goals. The solution: KB Lueck Building Consultants. The result: far greater and more satisfying than anything we imagined. With nothing more than a vague idea of our game plan, we hired Kevin and Brenda to make it happen. Brenda and Kevin helped us design our own version of the barn doors. We came up with an idea and a concept, and the Lueck's took it from there. The barn doors were custom made and they look fantastic. KB Lueck took our idea and made it function right, and have it match the look of the room.

The Lueck Building Consultants were very easy to work with. We needed a handicapped-accessible bedroom and bathroom for my husband. We worked with Kevin and Brenda from the "our deck needs replacing" idea to the ultimate vision of a three-phase home make-over, starting with an ambitious back yard project. Guiding us through key decisions, they ensured we understood each step, helped us choose the things we cared about - materials, finishes, "extras", etc. while handling the hundreds of details that didn't require our attention. They also ensured they brought in the highest quality craftsmen and workmen to complete the project. I was amazed at the perfectionist approach to the smallest details of the deck such as re-doing the placement of the support piers so as not to disturb the roots of our beautiful oak tree. Other appreciated touches included Kevin personally stepping in to hand lay the patio stones when he was not satisfied with the progress. Perhaps the ultimate demonstration of our confidence and satisfaction with KB Lueck is that we now have them working on Phase II!

The word "artisan" has been cheapened by its overuse from fast food restaurants to supermarkets - but I can say without hesitation that Kevin, Brenda and their talented team are just that. We were not just looking for a contractor, but a partner who could not just deliver on a vision, but expand and improve upon it through thoughtful consultation. Throughout the planning phase, Kevin and Brenda serve as a valuable creative partnership, bouncing complimentary ideas back in response to our ideas. The execution in particular was extraordinary in its craftsmanship - every gap and angle are perfectly executed. KB Lueck worked WITH us the entire project. They listened to our wants, needs, desires and concerns. KB Lueck are completely hands-on the whole way. From the initial design meeting until the paint was on the walls, they were with us. They even handled the permits and the inspections too. We are so happy with our "new" home. We hired KB Lueck to update our master suite, fix water/moisture issues, and create a his and hers closet. The end result was better than we could have imagined. Kevin and Brenda Lueck were fantastic through out the entire project they helped us with- from start to finish, and then some!!!

Our outdoor project involved rebuilding a concrete / commercial grade retaining wall, while maintaining the integrity of our existing in-ground pool. We also had to rebuild/refooting the extensive slate patio around the pool and behind the wall. The project was incredibly involved and required the input and contribution of a number of professionals including an engineer, pool contractor, mason, electrician, plumber and landscaper / general contractor. Kevin and Brenda managed the project from design to completion. They provided detailed drawings, site plans and worked tirelessly to produce an incredible finished product. They navigated the unforeseen challenges and presented us with solutions. We trusted their judgment and insights at each step as we know they operate with the upmost integrity and diligence. Their attention to the fine details is reflected in the finish product.

Hired KB to rebuild our master bathroom. They helped with the initial design and made helpful suggestions. The work was top notch, on time and on budget even after finding some surprises behind the walls and floor. Post project, they were very quick to respond to any follow up issues. Highly recommended.

Kevin and Brenda were the perfect fit for our project needs. Our home has been in the family for 50 years, and the front steps and walkway were in need of repair and/or replacing. With very little design experience of our own, and knowing we would need professional assistance, we enlisted KB Lueck to get us started. With refreshing graciousness and calm, they brainstormed with us, combining our ideas with their creative expertise, and provided the confidence we needed to proceed with a sizeable project. As decisions were made, Kevin and Brenda were there to provide the input and know-how necessary for a solid and beautiful outcome. We hired Brenda and Kevin because we knew them personally to be very capable, professional and customer focused. I also appreciated Kevin's background as a carpenter and builder who can translate design concepts to scale plans that my builder could seamlessly apply to the actual build! Brenda worked with my wife on all the spaces - and we had to fit a whole house in 700 sqft - that ended up working out amazing! My job requires that I have a lot of storage space, which it did not have. Kevin and Brenda walked with me and helped me plan and purchased storage cabinets that specifically fit my needs. We hired KB Lueck to handle the renovation on a major investment flip project. This was a daunting task as the home had been occupied by over a dozen cats and had no standard maintenance performed in the last several years. Over the timeframe of two months, they took a gutted home and transformed it into a beautiful masterpiece, completed with brand new bathrooms and kitchen. I was extremely impressed with the quality, especially the hardwood treads on the stairs, which set the tone for the future homebuyers as the walked in the front door of the split foyer and saw the amazing handiwork that normally would be reserved for a million dollar home. The home went up for sale during the worst time of year to sell and was under contract in 9 days, which is an amazing feat, especially considering that no other home in the area has gone under contract in the last 5 months. I attribute the masterful handiwork as a leading factor for the quick sale.

We contacted KB Lueck to help us plan and design a basement renovation to provide a living space for Tom's dad that would be comfortable and private. Our original idea was to turn our storage room into a bedroom, but they explained the room had no egress and would not be safe. Kevin and Brenda proposed a plan that incorporated a Murphy bed in the living area and pocket doors for privacy. We loved it! In addition, they gave us a plan to redesign our storage room for more efficient use that allowed us to provide a play area for our grandchildren, a real bonus we were not expecting. After the plan was developed, they helped us sort through what we could do ourselves and what needed to be contracted. Then they managed the project to completion. The quality of the workmanship for the entire project was outstanding and they stayed within our budget. We would definitely use KB Lueck again and highly recommend them without reservation.

There was a small hiccup with the order of the windows, but this was not due to anything in KB Lueck's control and he did everything in his power to correct it quickly. We wanted to create transform our living space on the main floor into an open-concept room. KBLueck met with us and listened to our ideas. They created plans for the renovation and they managed the project for us. We wanted to take down 2 walls, move a bathroom, refinish wood floors, and add lighting. We also considered getting new kitchen cabinets and french doors. Kevin and Brenda helped us understand what needed to be accomplished in order to achieve our goals. They also worked with us to determine different phases of the project in order of priority. This helped us to stay as close to budget as possible. Brenda and Kevin listened to our ideas about color and style and narrowed our choices for us - choices about paint color, tile, wood floors - making it easier for us to make decisions. They also helped us decided where to place furniture, highlighting some of the pieces of furniture that before were easily overlooked. When we decided to wait for the kitchen renovations, Brenda recommended using Chalk Paint to give the cabinets a new look. She also recommended using a provide that creates a faux granite look for the counters. The transformation in our home is beautiful, functional, and just what we wanted. Kevin and Brenda, with their insight, experience, and knowledge, were wonderful to work with.

Kevin and Brenda are so encouraging to work with. They were able to come up with creative ways to improve the look of our kitchen and living room that would fit in our budget. Brenda came armed with a dizzying array of paint swatches, which she quickly narrowed down to a manageable set of recommendations after looking at our space, furniture and lighting. I had been feeling overwhelmed by the thought of coordinating a construction project with little experience, vision or money. Kevin brought a sense of calm assurance to the project. He helped me to see the house not as one huge unreachable project but as several smaller projects that were each attainable. His ideas were so great that we began demolition during that first meeting. It’s amazing to watch this husband and wife team as they combine their creativity and complementary skill sets.

KB Lueck helped me restore a house that I moved in to that had not been taken care of for several years. I appreciate their skill and attention to detail.
